A new music production business in Test Valley has received a £750 Business Incentive Grant from Test Valley Borough Council to support its early growth.
MW Composer, founded by former Army Air Corps Director of Music Michael Walters, creates original scores for film, television, and advertising. After composing part-time for several years, increasing demand for his work led Michael to launch his business full-time. His music has since won six ‘Best Score’ awards and been featured on Netflix, Apple TV+, Prime Video, BBC and ITV.
The grant will help fund mobile studio equipment, enabling production on the move. Michael said: “Turning my passion into a business has been hugely rewarding. The Council’s support is a great boost as I take on new projects and grow my catalogue.”
Mid Test Ward Councillor Alison Johnston added: “It’s fantastic to support a business that brings creativity and talent to the local economy.”
The Council’s Business Incentive Grant helps new businesses get established and must be applied for within eight weeks of trading.
