Greenfingered locals are being asked to sow some extra seeds, take additional cuttings or pot-on plants to donate to a charity’s Spring Plant Sale. Communicare is hosting the event at their community bakery CommuniBakes, St James Road, Shirley, on Sat, 10 May. All money raised will help vulnerable and isolated people in and around Southampton. The charity’s Fundraising and Finance Coordinator, Emily Arbery, says: “We’re delighted to be hosting our fourth annual Spring Plant Sale at our commercial venture, Communibakes. But we need gardeners to start growing plants for us to then sell at the event. We’re asking anyone out there who might be sowing or growing on plants for themselves to please also sow and pot up, or take a few extra cuttings for us, and donate them to our sale. Or if anyone has too many potted plants, indoor or out, that they would like to give us to sell as well, that’d be great. Donations can be dropped at CommuniBakes on the day of the event from 8.30am.” The event will take place at the back of the bakery and will include a variety of houseplants and outdoor garden plants. Communicare is currently supporting more than 750 individuals/families and always needs more donations and volunteers to help.
