It is agreed. Tired Town Quay is to be redeveloped. The Nicholas James Group have received approval from Southampton City Council to create what is planned to be a world-class waterfront destination, including three 25-storey apartment blocks, new marina, enhanced red-jet passenger terminal, restaurants, food halls, shops and landmark hotel with helipad.
The work is expected to take place in two phases over four years with a cost in excess of £200 million. It will deliver an economic boost to the city’s economy and a much improved waterfront experience, opening up the prominent waterfront site, which has remained largely inaccessible to the public for a number of years. Nicolas Roach, Chairman, Nicolas James Group, commented: “This represents a significant step forward in our vision to create a world-class waterfront destination that Southampton can be proud of.”
The Town Quay project continues Nicolas James Group’s track record of successful developments in the city, following their completion of the Harbour Hotel and apartments in Ocean Village. The plans, first announced in 2023, received strong support from the public with the final plans further improved to create a more visionary design.
