This June, Southampton Summer Sessions 2025 brought two weeks of unforgettable live music to Guildhall Square. A mix of legendary artists and rising stars lit up the city, proving Southampton’s cultural scene is stronger than ever.
The festival opened with Reggae Roast, featuring UK reggae star Mr Williamz and a fusion of Roots, Dancehall, Jungle, and Drum and Bass that got the crowd moving. Local hero Craig David followed with his TS5 show, delivering garage and R and B hits that thrilled fans old and new.
McFly celebrated their 20th anniversary with a high energy set, joined by special guests Twin Atlantic and Devon. Then, The Human League brought synth pop magic with classics like Don’t You Want Me, supported by Blancmange and Tom Bailey.
Britpop legends Ocean Colour Scene, along with Cast and Echobelly, turned the square into a nostalgic indie party. Grammy winning rockers Train delivered hits like Drops of Jupiter, sharing a special moment with frontman Pat Monahan’s son and a surprise proposal from the crowd.
The festival closed with Scottish icons Simple Minds, performing career spanning anthems, supported by new wave pioneers China Crisis. Frontman Jim Kerr connected deeply with the crowd, creating an intimate and celebratory finale.
