Designer Wayne Hemingway is leading a plan to regenerate Eastleigh town centre as part of the Together We Make Eastleigh revamp. Hemingway has said high streets are not dying but evolving, and he believes that Eastleigh is well-placed to adapt with a great park near the town and a bandstand.
He said, “The bones of this town are good!”
However, the town centre’s footfall has dropped significantly with a 42% decline since the pandemic. As part of the revamp the Council is applying for ‘trial’ road closures in early 2025 to pedestrianise areas and create a more welcoming environment for shoppers.
