Hampshire is tops for nature-based solutions

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, based in Curdridge, are proud to announce that John Durnell, Director of Nature Based Solutions at the Trust, has been awarded the Marsh Charitable Trust Leadership and Innovation in Nature Restoration Award.
This accolade celebrates exceptional individuals whose work drives transformative conservation efforts across the UK. John’s pioneering work has helped to position the charity as a national leader in nature-based solutions. John’s efforts have set new standards for collaboration and innovation – delivering tangible benefits for wildlife, local communities, and the broader environment.
In just four years, this work has enabled the Trust to acquire over 500 acres of degraded land, with a further 600 acres in the pipeline, converting it into thriving natural habitats and inspiring similar projects nationwide.
