A beautifully preserved 1949 Ford Anglia EA94A has made its way back to its original home, 75 years after it was first sold by Hampshire-based dealership Percy Hendy Ltd.
With fewer than 5,000 miles on the clock and complete with original documentation, the vintage vehicle now takes pride of place within the Hendy Group, one of the UK’s largest and longest-standing automotive businesses.
Originally registered in February 1949, the Anglia was sold for just over £319 to a local buyer in Eastleigh. At the time, it was Britain’s lowest-priced four-wheeled car, with just over 100,000 units produced between 1949 and 1953.
Despite passing through the hands of only three owners, this particular model has seen remarkably little use, making it a rare and well-preserved example of mid-century British motoring.
The car was recently acquired through South Western Vehicle Auctions, arriving complete with its original sales receipt, warranty booklet, handbook and logbook, a time capsule of the post-war motoring era. Its careful preservation and return to the Hendy name form a full-circle moment in the company’s 165-year history.
Plans are in place for the vehicle to go on display at Hendy Ford dealerships across the south of England, offering car enthusiasts and local residents the chance to see the Anglia up close throughout the year.
Now operating from more than 60 locations and representing 22 automotive brands, the Hendy Group continues to build on its long-standing legacy. The return of this historic car serves as a celebration not only of the company’s roots but also of British motoring heritage.
