YOU CAN BE A SPEED COP IN YOUR AREA

Speeding is one of the factors that most affects the quality of life in communities and impacts on the day-to-day lives of local people.

Community Speed Watch is a scheme that enables members of the public to volunteer alongside Hampshire Constabulary to monitor the speed of traffic passing through an area and identify vehicles which break the speed limit. Each scheme is run by volunteers and managed and supported by their local Neighbourhood Policing team which is keen to reinstate a group for the Fair Oak area.

Equipment and resources are available to support a group in this location after a two-year pause. If you live locally and would be interested in volunteering some of your time to the community to help keep roads safer in Chandler’s Ford or to restart the Fair Oak team, please get in touch to apply. Volunteers use equipment that can monitor the speed of passing traffic. They collect details at the roadside of speeding vehicles and pass this onto Hampshire Police.
