UKRAINIAN FRIENDS LAUNCH GARDENING BUSINESS
After entering the UK as refugees, a group of three Ukrainian women launched their own gardening business.
Yulia Pasyk and her sister Liudmila Kurinenko came to Titchfield and were joined by long-time friend Natalia Parkhomenko.
Despite the pain of becoming refugees, the plant and environment lovers, Yulia and Natalia, embarked on a new adventure by starting a gardening firm. They had previously studied at the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine.
The duo has more than twenty years of experience and Natalia, 46, said: “This is not our hobby, it’s our life and we love it.”
They have been cycling back and forth to their client’s homes in Warsash, Titchfield, and Park Gate to help with gravelled patios and tidy up overgrown gardens.
Meanwhile, Liudmila, 40, who understands and speaks fluent English, has been helping her sister and friend build their client base. The trio hopes to be independent and soon ‘stand back on their own feet’.
Liudmila added: “We want to lead an honest life in the UK and pay taxes just like everyone else.”
They thanked their community, hosts, and clients for making them feel welcome and giving them an opportunity of a ‘lifetime’.
