GET YOUR GRANT AND SUPPORT YOUR CHARITY

Despite being the largest grant maker to specialise in awarding grants, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation still flies somewhat under the radar.

In response to the pandemic, it awarded 483 grants totalling £1.85 million to support local charitable groups and organisations across the region and it wants to encourage more groups to come forward and access the funding available.

New rounds of funding open throughout the year, focussing on a wide range of topics including supporting people with mental health needs, assisting people into employment, training or education, to supporting people with mental health needs and disabilities and tackling poverty generally.

Life Changes Counselling in Southampton recently received a grant of £38,000 to develop its support provision after experiencing increasing demand for its services. Philip Meakins said: “For 17 years, we have been providing counselling for the Southampton area using voluntary counsellors. Our 3-year development grant from HIWCF will enable us to build on this and give our clients a better service.”
