DAN WALKER RECEIVES DEGREE FROM SOUTHAMPTON
He was a face known to millions of BBC Breakfast viewers.
Dan Walker has been awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Media for his services to journalism by Solent University.
The award-winning journalist and broadcaster studied history and journalism at university and worked in local radio before switching to television.
Dan hosted the BBC’s Football Focus for twelve years and covered five Olympic Games, five World Cups, and major sporting events around the world. Having presented BBC Breakfast for six years, Dan is now Channel 5 anchor on their evening news programme.
He has written several books and competed in the nineteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Commenting on his award, Dan he said: “I love being a journalist and feel very privileged to do my job. It has opened so many doors for me and enabled me to work all over the world. I am not really a gong winner, so it is both a surprise and an honour to receive this Doctor of Media degree from Solent University.”
