CHEER FOR CHARITY: CHANDLER’S FORD FUNDRAISES FOR TEENAGE SCOUT

Local explorer, Matt Taylor, will be hitting the trail for the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea next year thanks to local fitness fans.
He has been working tirelessly to gather money for both his trip and to help less fortunate guides and scouts attend.
The team of personal trainers from Studio Twenty 3 at Chandler’s Ford led hour-long fitness sessions and participants wore Myzone fitness monitors, tracking heart rate, calories and intenstity with a point system called MEPS (Myzone Effort Points). The harder the wearer works out, the more MEPs they earn.
The target was to collectively complete 5,621 MEPS on the day- matching the total number of miles between Chandler’s Ford and South Korea.
Matt said: “It means a lot to me that our fundraising means so many other Scouts and Guides can attend the Jamboree.”
More than £450 was raised to help send the 16-year-old – one of 149 Hampshire Scouts picked to attend the World Scout Jamboree – on the trip for real.
