Distributing with Discover
We have been printing and delivering local magazines to thousands of homes in SO and PO postcodes since 2005. We are based in Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh with a network of about 160 locally based distributors helping to deliver to 95,000 homes six times a year.
The job of delivering our lovely magazines is very important – it’s the final step in the process of writing, designing, selling advertising and printing. It’s important we distribute the magazines as promised to our paying advertisers – on time, every time.
We are always looking to hire reliable, willing and flexible people to do this for us. We believe that age is irrelevant to the task of delivering; as long as it’s done properly we’re happy, so we pay the government recommended rate for an adult 21-22 years old to all our distributors even those under 18 (currently £6.83 and £4.81 for 17 and under).
All our distributors are paid the same – £9.18 per 100 magazines (the average delivery time for 100 magazines is one hour).

YOUR PROPERTY NEEDS TO HAVE A DRY SHELTER IE. A PLACE OUTSIDE THE FRONT OF YOUR PROPERTY (NOT IN A BACK GARDEN) WHERE UP TO 4 BOXES CAN BE LEFT UNATTENDED AND OUT OF THE RAIN . ALTERNATIVELY DISTRIBUTORS CAN COLLECT MAGAZINES FROM THE OFFICE IN CHANDLER’S FORD (at their own expense).
Distribution Drop Off
The magazines are delivered to us by the printers. We have to organise the boxes and leaflets into the correct quantities per route and per distributor. Then the boxes are dropped off to each distributor, grouped by Edition ie. all Winchester routes one day, Waterside the next day etc. We have to allow for delays in delivery from the printer, the weather and last minute changes in distributor allocation so we only release the actual date per edition drop on Roundcontrol 4 WEEKS in advance of the drop date window below. Please check Roundcontrol for latest update before calling the office. We will endeavor to keep to the dates released as best as possible for your sake and ours!
Being a Distributor
Distributors are allocated rounds of about 500 magazines each. Minimum age to apply is 14 years old.
How much will you be paid? up to £175 per delivery = £1,050 a year
Most routes are in suburban areas and it’s easy to cover 100 homes per hour. Super distributors are paid a higher rate of £9.18 per 100 magazines. If the route is particularly hilly or houses set far apart, the rate may be higher. Each delivery might include up to 5 leaflets to insert into the magazine before you start the delivery. We pay 75p per 100 leaflets so a magazine with 3 leaflet inserts pays £2.25 per 100. Mileage is paid at 45p per mile on “away” routes and other tasks asked to carry out.

Please note that we are unable to accept applications if both of the two steps are not completed.
Please note that we are unable to accept applications if you live in a flat. This is because we drop off the magazines and often leave them outside the front door, exposed to weather.

- Deliveries are required six times a year, about 8 weeks apart. You will be given the dates for the year if your application is successful.
- You have 7-10 days to complete your “home” route.
- Magazines and leaflets are delivered to your home or you can collect from our office at SO53 2EA.
- You are required to download and activate a GPS Tracking App designed for local magazine distribution, to your smart mobile phone, The App requires a smart mobile.
- Good communication is as important as actually doing the delivery. If you don’t respond to texts, emails or calls or you don’t read your emails, this is not the job for you!
- Payment is made on the 15th day of the month following distribution. Late completitions are paid the following month.
- You must have a bank account (excluding building society accounts)
