A P…P…PERFECT ADVENTURE
31-year-old, Natalie Corbett, who lives in Meon Valley, has taken on the epic mission of running the world’s most remote post office in Antarctica and counting penguins. She is among a team of four women.
Newlywed Natalie, who beat 6,000 applicants for the five-month role, advertised by the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust, on Goudier Island, is in charge of the gift shop.
As well as dealing with the sub-zero temperatures and almost constant daylight, Natalie and her colleagues are sharing the island with a colony of gentoo penguins.
Training for the 9,000-mile trip to re-open the bay for the first time since the pandemic included learning remote first aid and a talk from a penguinologist.
Natalie could not resist the opportunity to work on the island filled with penguins in one of the most remote places on the planet.
