A GOOD READ: Travels With My Child
Have Baby Will Travel
“Don’t fit your life around the baby. Fit the baby around your life.” This was the advice that changed everything for author and travel writer Natasha Orme when she and her partner found out they were expecting.
“While others told us that our days of adventure were over, we decided to take a different path. We made it our mission to travel with our little one as often as our jobs would allow. It was fun, it was stressful, it was messy, but my goodness it was worth every second.
“The first year or so of motherhood was incredibly busy. We’d been travelling a lot: four trips abroad and a road trip to Scotland, all while navigating that early stage of parenting… Then an old acquaintance said ‘You should turn these stories into a book’.”
Natasha thought this was a great idea, especially as so many people were shocked when she told them about their travels. She decided to use their experiences to encourage more parents to embrace adventure.
“One of my favourite experiences was living in Sicily for six weeks. It was challenging at times, but dealing with a disgruntled baby in a coffee shop with a view of Mount Etna somehow seems less of a problem.”
Natasha’s book, Travels With My Child is filled with tips, tricks, inspiration and the magic of exploring new places with a small human.
